Self-Leveling Concrete & Overlays in Cedar Hill TX - a flat base for your new floor
Planning new flooring over a slab with dips, humps or old patches? We check the concrete first, then pour a level base your floor can sit on.

I check every slab myself
I come out to every job, look over the slab and write the estimate myself, so the person pricing your floor is the one who saw the cracks. Our own trained installers then handle the prep and the pour.
Prepping slabs first since 2013
We've been prepping and finishing concrete floors since 2013, 13 years now, and we still put the time into the slab before anything goes on it. A new floor only stays flat as long as the concrete under it holds.
Fully licensed and insured, with a guarantee
It's fair to ask any crew about that before they work in your house, and we'll answer straight. Satisfaction guaranteed on every job. When you're ready, call (972) 299-0201 or use the form below.
Self-leveling concrete and overlays in Cedar Hill
Self-leveling concrete in Cedar Hill is a pourable underlayment we spread over your existing slab so the floor you put on top sits flat. It's for indoor floors only, and it helps anyone laying new flooring over a slab with dips, humps or old patches.
The price mostly depends on what's under the pour, not the pour itself. How big the room is, how deep the low spots run, how many cracks need repair and whether old flooring has to come up all change the number. The schedule depends on the same things, plus any testing the slab needs and drying time before your new floor goes down. Your written estimate spells out the prep and every coat, so you can see where the money goes.
The first question I ask is whether your slab is ready for it. Is it damp? Does it have cracks that move? Was the old floor put down decades ago? Each answer changes the prep, and I'd rather tell you a slab needs work first, or isn't a fit, than pour over a problem. Before we start, we also check with the city's building office about the job, and if it calls for a permit we handle the paperwork.
Self-leveling concrete and the prep around it
Finding cracks that move first
Before we pour anything, I look for cracks and joints that move, because a crack that's still shifting will carry right up through the leveler and show in your new floor. Is it hairline and quiet, or does it open and close with the seasons? We can repair a still crack and pour over it. With a moving one, you should expect that line to come back through the finish, and I'd rather tell you that now than have you find it later under new tile.
Testing old flooring before tear-out
In older homes, we plan for testing the old flooring and glue before anything comes up. One leveler maker advises testing flooring and adhesives put down before 1981 for asbestos before removal, so if your house has floors that old, that test comes ahead of the tear-out and the pour. Once the testing's sorted, our crew handles concrete floor stripping and removal, taking off the old covering and glue so the leveler has bare, clean concrete to bond to.
A thin, level base for indoor floors
Self-leveling underlayment is an indoor product, poured over your existing slab as the layer under tile, vinyl, wood or a coating. It's thin, too. One maker's underlayment without added gravel generally goes down between 1/8 and 2 inches thick. That's enough to fill dips and smooth out old patches without building a new slab. If the concrete you're thinking about is outside around the pool, that's a different job, and our pool deck coatings and resurfacing page covers it.

(972) 299-0201How a self-leveling job goes with us
You call, I come look
You call or send a message, and I come out to check the slab and hear what you want from the room. Have the room size, your current flooring and your home's age handy, since all three shape the prep.
Your written estimate, line by line
Next you get a written estimate that spells out the prep and every coat, from crack repair and any old-floor testing to the primer and the pour. If the slab needs work first, or isn't a fit, the estimate says so.
Pour, cure and a final walk
Our own installers prep the slab and pour the leveler. One maker says to stay off a fresh pour for at least 2 to 3 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Before we pack up, I walk the finished floor with you.
Self-leveling concrete questions, answered
Does my slab need a moisture test before self-leveling?
Yes. The moisture inside the slab should be down to acceptable levels before flooring goes on, and one leveler maker says to test for it before its product goes down. Levelers don't fix a damp slab, so a slab that tests too wet needs treating first. The cause is often outside, like poor drainage or grading or missing gutters.
How much does self-leveling concrete cost per square foot?
Leveling a concrete floor with self-leveling compound, installed, usually costs about $5 to $7 per square foot across the US. That's a national figure, not our price. Your cost goes up or down with how much crack repair, old flooring removal and moisture work the slab needs first, and your written estimate shows each piece.
Do I need a permit for self-leveling concrete in Cedar Hill?
It might, because Cedar Hill's permit rules cover any construction, alteration or repair of a structure, and the city's list of exempt work names finish work, not leveling or overlays. That's why we check with the city before we start, as mentioned above. Any contractor doing permitted work there also has to be registered with the city, so it's fair to ask about that.
Can self-leveling concrete go on a patio in Cedar Hill?
No. The underlayment we pour is made for interior use only, so a patio isn't a fit for it. It belongs on floors inside your house. The city's permit poster also lists driveways, sidewalks and concrete patios and slabs, so check with the city before any outdoor concrete job.
